Evidence before
product selection.
A research workflow for understanding product categories, comparing dated signals and deciding what deserves a closer look.
Built for one owner-operated e-commerce project.
How we handle dataA research signal is a reason to investigate, not a promise of sales.
Different signals.
Different meanings.
Category position, search interest and outbound clicks answer different questions. The project keeps them separate rather than turning them into an unsupported sales estimate.
Dated category-list positions and comparable top-ten history. A change in rank is not a count of units sold.
Assisted capture verifiedSupported exports provide relative search interest and context for seasonality. Query relevance needs review.
Export analysis verifiedRegional category and keyword interest. Great Britain and Ireland are reported together. The proposed API integration is read-only.
API access pendingKeep the important distinctions.
Keep the source.
Retain where a signal came from, when it was captured and which geography it represents.
Keep products distinct.
Similar names do not establish the same product or variant. New to a sample does not mean newly launched.
Keep decisions explicit.
A shortlist is a research output. It does not approve a purchase, listing, advertisement or publication.
